What armor looks like in the body
A 2-minute check, plus new affirmations to stream.
Hi,
News first: my affirmations are now streaming on Insight Timer. They’re short and grounded, made to play while you get ready, commute, or wind down.
Now the practice. Most people think of armor as an attitude. In the body, it’s physical: a clenched jaw, shoulders near your ears, a held breath, a braced belly, hands that stay ready.
Armor is not a flaw. It got you through something. The trouble starts when it never comes off, because a body that is always guarding has less room for rest, pleasure, and closeness.
Try this check right now:
Jaw. Let your teeth part and your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth.
Shoulders. Lift them toward your ears, then let them fall.
Belly. Soften it on one slow exhale.
Hands. Open them, palms up, for three breaths.
Notice which one released easily and which one resisted. The one that resisted is where you carry the most.
That is the work we’ll do together on Sunday, November 15 at 11 am PST in Put Down the Weight, a free live online workshop. Every movement has a seated option.
